We have worked in North Yorkshire for over 50 years. The Harrogate team is here to help clients no matter the size or trade. For us, being a community broker is, first and foremost, about looking after you. It's about being familiar with the Yorkshire region, engaging with you and understanding your business - a level of awareness which can only be achieved by living and working in the area, and we do just that. We were formed in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire in 1968 by Geoff Cook and John Smart. Moving to Harrogate in 1980, Smart and Cook Ltd became one of the largest independent insurance brokers in the UK during the 1990s and early noughties before sale to AXA UK in 2007. Smart and Cook Ltd gained a reputation as a professional broker who built its business through acquisition and organic growth. We became part of Bluefin, then Jelf which became Marsh Commercial.
